Creating morals and values in a classroom environment is a good way to show students how they can apply classroom values to their everyday life. Morals and values are considered a part of character education in my opinion, however there are other entities. These include defining one’s unique characteristics and what makes a person that person, understanding right from wrong, being able to follow directions. Because each person is unique, it can be difficult provide difficulties in teaching character education.
I consider teaching morals and value a small entity in character education. The classroom is a branch of the child’s home, and because most time is spent in the classroom during children’s life, this is the area, in addition to their home, where morals and values are taught and applied. Elementary education is an important time in a person’s life to begin to define specific morals and values. It is important for a child to know and have guidelines in life to follow and have values they believe in. Communicating this to parents is important, because as a teacher you need to be aware of what occurs outside your classroom to help you understand your role to an individual student and an entire class. The tricky part may be presenting that to the parents.
