There are remarkable differences between a classroom that has a management plan and one that does not. One that comes to mind is that a classroom with a management plan is more productive in their classroom activities. Planning how to handle the students is an important aspect of the classroom. Jones and Jones (2010) state “Research conducted at Johns Hopkins University indicates that effective classroom management techniques in first grade can have a dramatic impact on whether students will behave violently at age thirteen. Kellam and his colleagues (1998) reported that highly aggressive six-year-old boys assigned to first-grade classrooms with teachers skilled in classroom management were three times less likely to be highly aggressive when they reached eighth grade than similarly aggressive boys placed in first grade classrooms characterized by poor classroom management.” This was interesting to read that the younger the grade, the more important it is to management the classroom efficiently in order for the higher grade levels to be successful. Jones & Jones (2010) also mention in a separate study that “effective classroom managers were not notably different from poor classroom managers in their ways of responding to disruptive student behavior. Further analysis, however, demonstrated how effective classroom managers used various teaching methods that prevented disruptive student behavior”. So the difference according to the text is the way a teacher responds to the disruptive behavior and using a variety of teaching methods to promote students interest in the lessons.
